Amir Darvish: (Assistant Director/Dramaturg) is ecstatic to be working on Haram Iran with this amazing creative team. A few New York Theatre credits include Seen/By Everyone, This Lingering Life, I Came To Look For You On Tuesday, The (*) Inn, Taxi To Janna, and the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway one-man show: Mercury. He’s a 2010 NY Innovative Theatre Award recipient for Outstanding Featured Actor in Psych and a 2009 NY MITF Best Actor Nominee for Higher Education. Some film and TV credits include “Blacklist”, “Michael J. Fox Show”, “Person of Interest,” “Bar Karma,” “Running Wilde,” “Love Magical” and “Month to Month” amongst others. Sahar Bibiyan: (Shirin) is thrilled to be making her debut with Emerging Artist Theatre. Sahar’s recent credits include “ Chicago Justice”, “ Mr Robot”, “ Price For Freedom” and “A Persian Affair”. Sahar is honored to be a part of Haram Iran and hopes that it will raise awareness for the rights of all people in her beautiful country of Iran. IMDB



Thamer Jendoubi: (President Ahmadinejad, Reza Zadeh) is a (native) New York based actor, making his off-Broadway debut in Haram! Iran!  He’s thrilled to be back working on this exciting and important project after taking part in the staged reading last October. He received his training at the Maggie Flanigan Studio and earned his MA in Acting from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in the United Kingdom.



*Russell Jordan: (Hami/Mullah) is a New York Innovative Theatre Awards nominee and a two-time Planet Connections Theatre Festivity outstanding actor award recipient. *Kal Mansoor: (Fareed) has worked extensively in television and theatre in London, Paris, Los Angeles and New York, primarily in comedy. He also has a degree in French language and European politics and turned down a career with the European Union to focus on acting. Most of his work can be seen on his Funny Or Die channel.


Colin Mulligan: (Sattar) was born in St Louis, where he performed regularly in youth productions. After earning his MA, Colin moved east to begin a twelve-year teaching career. In 2011, as he entered the world of professional modeling, Colin also returned to the stage in Shirin Nashat’s off-Broadway show, ‘Overruled.’ Colin is represented by Wilhelmina models. He and his wife Masha live in NYC and Los Angeles.

Rahul Rai: (Mahmoud) is an actor that spends his time between NY and LA. While Rahul spends most of his time honing his craft in acting and dance, he also finds time for his other passions, martial arts and philosophy. He trained in Tang Soo Do, a Korean-based martial arts made famous by Chuck Norris, and at the age of 13 attained his black belt. Most recently he started training in Jeet Kune Do, a martial art created by the one and only Bruce Lee. IMDB


*Alex Ringler:  (Fight Choreographer) has been seen on Broadway, off-Broadway and across the world in such shows as West Side Story, A Chorus Line, Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, Pageant: The Musical, Trip of Love, and Cats to name a few. As resident choreographer of D’Angora Productions, Alex choreographed the off-Broadway revivals of The Marvelous Wondrettes and Naked Boys Singing. Roberto Tolentino: (Ayaz) is a California-born actor who recently moved to NYC after graduating from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Biology and a BFA in acting. He is currently an MFA candidate at Columbia University. He is thrilled to have the chance to work on this wonderful play with extraordinary people. He’d like to thank his mother, his professors and classmates, and the girl in his life with the cold toes.


Jay Paul Deratany: (Playwright) is a writer and actor (SAG) who recently obtained his MFA from the University of California Riverside for Screenwriting. He has written several plays including “Haram Iran” which has been produced in Chicago, Los Angeles, and soon London. Haram Iran was nominated for a GLAAD award for best theatrical play of 2011, and Jay Paul received a grant from the London Arts Counsel to further develop the play for London audiences. In addition, Jay Paul has written “Lincolns Dilemma” a novel; multiple articles advocating for human rights and is a well-known human rights lawyer in Chicago. Rick Leidenfrost-Wilson: (Director) is also a producer, playwright, music director and educator. Directing credits include The Greatest Pirate Story Never Told (Snapple Theatre Center; Off Broadway Alliance nomination), Falsettos (Planet Connections Award, Best Revival, 2014), The Children’s Hour, Lantern Theatre Long Island), The Declaration, Too Much, Too Far, Too Soon (Midtown International Theatre Festival, Box Office Award), and Hockey: the musical! (Toronto: Betty Oliphant Theatre and Helen Gardiner Phalin Playhouse. Oklahoma! and The King and I, (Lakes Region Summer Theatre, Twilight Tales (Off Broadway).  He has taught at The Wheatley School for 24 years and is the  President of Off Sides Entertainment, a production company providing a la carte theatrical services including design, marketing, event production, commercial production, script writing, and general management services. ( also serves as Vice President on the Board of Directors for Long Island Crisis Center.


Adam Weinstock: Adam Weinstock, Co-Owner of Red Spear LLC and is president of Creative Concept Productions. (CCP) Currently he is Chairman of the Board of EAT – Emerging Artists Theatre. NEWSical the Musical in NYC has been Off Broadway on Theater Row for over 6 years. CCP has produced over 100 shows ranging from the 1996 revival of Mart Crowley’s The Boys in the Band, to the critically acclaimed 21 Dog Years Doing Time at at the Cherry Lane Theater. CCP and Adam have worked closely President Clinton, John Shea, Jean Louise Kelly, Bruce Vilanch, Lea Delaria, Judy Tenuta, Charles Busch, Margaret Cho, Ellen Greene, Paula Poundstone, Sandra Bernhard, Michael Feinstein and Linda Eder. Adam directs and Acts. Dubbed Mr. Entertainment by the NY Times, in a featured article in 2002, Mr. Weinstock has produced on both coasts of the USA as well as in London on the West End. Roger J. Cooper: Co-Owner of Red Spear Productions LLC is also Treasurer of Emerging Artists Theatre and Producer Living Room Theatre.

Roger got his start in the theatre in England in the mid 1960’s as an actor with the first lead as Lew in Men in Shadow; Other productions include Admiral Crichton; The Devil’s Disciple, etc. Acting and Lighting Design in Mexico City – Dracula, Wait Until Dark, Fantastics, Arms and The Man, Charley’s Aunt. As Actor in Guatemala – How He Lied to her Husband (Best Actor Award); In Honduras – Chapter Two; In Film and TV include – A Home of our Own, Cuando Tejen Las Arañas, McLeod, Actas de Marucia (Oscar Nomination as best foreign film).

For the past 20 years Roger has been working to produce Theatre and Choral group performances with the Mentally Disabled in Westchester County NY and since 2003, he has been involved in numerous Off-Broadway shows as Treasurer of Emerging Artists Theatre in New York and ongoing for the past two seasons – Producer for Living Room Theatre in Vermont – Exit The King (Ionesco); Men of Tortuga (Wells); Playing with Fire (Strindberg); Overruled (Shaw) and in New York Off-Broadway – Men of Tortuga. AJ Mattioli: (Scenic Designer) has been working in the Entertainment Business for the last 15 years. His work has been on seen on TV, film, Off Broadway, and 100s of black box theatres around NYC. Jess Gersz: (Costume Designer) has had the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects. From panda heads to runway fashion, Jess is always looking for new adventures in costuming. Courtney Ferrell: A math and theatre teacher by day, Courtney has stage managed for off-off Broadway shows since moving to NY. Courtney is the Math Department Head, Data Specialist, Programmer, and technical theatre advisor at Bronx Theatre High School, where she has directed six student productions and created a Musical Theatre program. Courtney feels incredibly blessed to work with such charismatic and brilliant students each year, and would like to thank Amir, Rick and Adam for letting her be part of such a powerful piece of theatre.
